Teaching Experience

Mathematics is always my pet subject and I enjoyed solving challenging Maths problems in different ways. I have been giving Mathematics for nearly 2 years and I always enjoy imparting my Mathematical knowledge to students. Sometimes, I would need to think out of box to deploy different teaching methodologies to aid weaker students in understanding Maths concept. For example, for Primary school students, it is important to encourage them to draw bar model drawing. But there are some of them who would detest drawing them and there are some ways to develop their new-found interest in problem-solving techniques.

In Singapore, younger students especially at primary level are generally shy and reticent in expressing their doubts in certain topics. During tutoring session, it is important to make them feel at ease with me and I would encourage them to speak up whenever they have any doubts in certain topics. Whenever they submit their homework, I would make it an extra effort to scrutinize their working to make sure that they get their concept right. Sometimes, they happen to get their answers right but their working steps are totally wrong. Nearer to their examinations, I would summarise all the weaker points that I discover while marking their homeworks or their mock exam papers and go through these points with students. It is important for students to remember what they have made mistakes and what they should avoid making mistakes.

• Secondary 2 Normal Student: E-Maths grades improve from C5 to A1.
• Secondary 2 Express Student: E-Maths grades improve from B3 to A1.
• Secondary 2 Express Student: E-Maths grades improve from C5 to B4.
• Primary 4 Student: Maths grades improve from Band 2 to Band 1
• Primary 4 Student: Maths grades improve from Band 3 to Band 1.

• PSLE Levels, Bukit Batok Primary School,2A* in Mathematics and Science and 1A in English. Score: 250.
