Centre Overview

Established in 1997, The Life Skills Reading Centre embraces a multi-sensory approach to teaching. This multi-sensory approach used in our Spalding Method Phonics and Montessori Maths helps to set the foundation for lifetime learning for children aged 5-8.

We help children to be fluent and confident readers.

Spalding Method Phonics

The Spalding Method is a total language arts approach because it provides explicit, sequential multisensory instruction in:

• Visualization
• Reading
• Thinking
• Writing (proper letter formation and spelling)

Montessori Maths

A powerful method of understanding mathematical concepts and acquire sensorial knowledge and concrete understanding of the physical world

• Writing(proper numeral formation)

It is a hands-on programme where the child learns from concrete to abstract mathematical thinking using mathematical aids

Through mathematical aids the child will learn

• Place value of the decimal system up to 9999
• Understand concepts of addition and subtraction
• Multiplication
• Division
